Tha Harvester Pro Staff Member Mark Locke had a great time hunting the South East hunting for velvet bucks back in 2007. The conditions were very hot and humid and were not favorable for this particular hunt , but with the proper scouting and preparations before the hunt he was able to Harvest this fantastic trophy on the last day of a three day hunt he had planned. When temps are high and deer do not seem to be moving very much to remember to stick close to water sources as this buck was Harvested off of a small pond edge getting a drink of water before going to bed in the early morning hours.

With hunting seasons open all across America there should be lots of Harvesting taking place. These are moments that will be remembered and shared thru ought life times and generations. Here at Tha Harvester we have Harvested our share of game that we have pursued , but we have Harvested far more memories with our families and friends in the outdoor world without ever shooting a bow, firing a gun or putting a big fish in the boat. What we here at Tha Harvester are trying to say is that when your in the great outdoors it’s not about the Harvest of the animal , but about the Harvest of the moment and memories with your family and friends that will never be forgotten. If your lucky enough to Harvest game this year, that’s just the icing on the cake ,but the real Harvest is the time and memories you are going to be making and sharing with your loved ones in the great outdoors.
If your hunting Missouri this weekend look for some great hunting. With highs expected to be in the mid 40′s deer are going to be on their feet and moving. Rubs and scrapes are starting to show up in abundance and deer are gearing up for prime time . Use light rattling , doe bleats and tending grunts. Right now is a great time to hunt rub lines in between food sources and doe bedding areas. The next two weeks in my opinion are the best times to be in the woods with your bag of tricks and patience. With big bucks on the move you could potentially capitalize at any moment. Good luck and Harvest the moment!
During the Spring Tha Harvester Pro Staff Member Mark Locke likes to spend his time Harvesting Sheds. Mark Locke says he likes to focus on certain areas while looking for sheds in the Spring. Start by checking food sources and known core areas. These are areas that deer are going to spend a lot of their time during Spring trying to replace nutrition that was lost during the rut and Winter months. Mark says he also likes checking fence lines and well worn trails. The deer will jump the fences and jar their antlers loose and this is usually a great place to start looking while you are out chasing thunder chickens or just doing some early pre season scouting. Remember if you are out scouting , hunting , shed hunting , running trail cameras for big bucks, fishing or just making memories with your loved ones, you are always Harvesting something.
