Harvest The Monent

Posted by on Oct 30, 2012 in Forum Entries | 0 comments

With hunting seasons open all across America there should be lots of Harvesting taking place. These are moments that will be remembered and shared thru ought life times and generations. Harvesting The Moment is not just about The Harvest of the wildlife or fish that you may be pursuing , but more about the bonds, friendships and memories that are built through the outdoors. Although we all have the common goal to Harvest the game that we pursue it’s The Harvest of The Moment that makes the memories , bonds and friendships. Here at Tha Harvester  we have Harvested our share of game that we have pursued , but we have Harvested far more memories with our families and friends in the outdoor world without ever shooting a bow, firing a gun or putting a big fish in the boat. What we here at Tha Harvester are trying to say is that when your in the great outdoors it’s not about the Harvest of the animal , but about the Harvest of the moment and memories with your family and friends that will never be forgotten. If your lucky enough to Harvest game this year, that’s just the icing on the cake ,but the real Harvest is the time and memories you are going to be making and sharing with your loved ones in the great outdoors.

Central Missouri Heating Up!

If your hunting Missouri this weekend look for some great hunting. With highs expected to be in the mid 40′s deer are going to be on their feet and moving. Rubs and scrapes are starting to show up in abundance and deer are gearing up for prime time . Use light rattling , doe bleats and tending grunts. Right now is a great time to hunt rub lines in between food sources and doe bedding areas. The next two weeks in my opinion are the best times to be in the woods with your bag of tricks and patience. With big bucks on the move you could potentially capitalize at any moment. Good luck and Harvest the moment!

Harvesting Sheds!

During the Spring Tha Harvester Pro Staff Member Mark Locke likes to spend his time Harvesting Sheds. Mark Locke says he likes to focus on certain areas while looking for sheds in the Spring. Start by checking food sources and known core areas. These are areas that deer are going to spend a lot of their time during Spring trying to replace nutrition that was lost during the rut and Winter months. Mark says he also likes checking fence lines and well worn trails. The deer will jump the fences and jar their antlers loose and this is usually a great place to start looking while you are out chasing thunder chickens or just doing some early pre season scouting. Remember if you are out scouting , hunting , shed hunting , running trail cameras for big bucks, fishing or just making memories with your loved ones, you are always Harvesting something. This is our Harvester tip of the week.

‘Trail Cameras”

Posted by on Jul 16, 2012 in Forum Entries | 0 comments

Trail Cameras can be a lot of fun , especially in the Spring and Summer. They are a great way to take inventory and see what bucks you did not Harvest from the year before survived the hunting season and harsh Winter. Trail Cameras are growing in popularity and can be a lot of fun especially watching a big buck grow his antlers back from month to month during the non hunting seasons. They may be your best tool of Harvesting a big buck by allowing you to establish a big bucks travel routes and by allowing you to view times when he is most active. There are some key factors when using these devices you should always consider. First -make sure you are setting them out over food sources and well known travel routes and you are setting them at the right heigth. Second- make sure you are wearing rubber gloves , rubber boots and you are wearing some kind of scent shield as if you were going hunting. This will allow a buck from becoming pressured. Third- you do not want to check these cameras every day or even weekly. Set them out and leave them a lone. Only check them like every three to four weeks and when you go to check them make sure if you do not have a viewing device to take extra sd cards and batteries, so you do not have to keep making multiple trips. When hunting season arrives the deer will change their patterns and you will need to really do your home work. Trail Cameras will really be your best friend at this point. You will need to place your cameras on trails that lead to food sources to get an idea on what trails are being used by your local big buck. Once you have this vital piece of information you can move your cameras closer to the expected bedding areas. You should be able to now catch that buck on camera and find out where he is and when he is moving during legal shooting hours and pull off the Harvest. If you are not getting him during legal shooting hours leave your cameras near the bedding area and when you see deer movement starting to pick up , check the cameras again and he should also be on the move. Once you have information that the buck is starting to move during daylight hours, move in and hunt the stand that gives you the best opportunity to Harvest this buck. Your Trail Cameras will give you the information needed to Harvest this buck if you follow these simple , but important tips!

My biggest King

I was sleeping while every one else was fishing. I woke up asked Dad if I could use a rod. 10# test -no leader and BAM! Took 45 minutes and 6-7 runs. I thought I was going to get spooled twice. It was awsome! He ate well to.
